Here Are 8 Things That We Expect From Ubuntu 14.04! : SMARTTRICKS

06:44
The stakes are even higher with Ubuntu 14.04, hope Canonical does it right!

The Ubuntu 14.04 Linux-based operating system will be out next month. Trusty Tahr, will be released for users everywhere. Both desktop and server editions of the OS are expected along with versions for smartphones and tablets. The fact that it's a Long Term Support Release, means the stakes are even higher with the release. We are having our fingers crossed!Ubuntu 14.04, Trusty tahr, Linux, Ubuntu Software Center, Icon Theme, stability, Canonical, Saucy Salamander, Boot Process, Cloud , Social Integration

Users are expecting a lot of things from Ubuntu 14.04. Here are eight such expectations:

1. Easier Ubuntu Software Center Approval Process

Some of the best applications in the Linux world today are readily available in Ubuntu's Software Center. Users can try out these wonderful set of apps without having to enter a single line of code. However, the downside is that new apps are required to be tested and reviewed using a manual review process, which is a bit tedious for developers. We expect an easier Ubuntu Software Center approval process in Trusty.

2. New Icon Theme

Let's face it, the old icon theme is boring! With convergence round the corner, we expect a big aesthetic change on the desktop front with an icon theme that fits well with desktop as well as mobile devices.

3. More stability

Canonical can simply not get away with overlooking the stability factor in Ubuntu 14.04. The fact that it's an LTS, there is no other way for the developers but produce a product that is solid, stable and runs smooth across all devices. Canonical's recent decision to not include Mir for Trusty makes us believe that Canonical is indeed serious on the stabilty aspect.

4. Something new, but stable

Users across the globe have criticised the previous release Saucy Salamander so much so that the same has set a solid foundation for the next big release, Ubuntu 14.04. Saucy users await with baited breath some new features in the upcoming release.

5. Better Boot Process

Honestly, the boot process for Ubuntu is quite a mess. Many users, especially those using proprietary drivers complain that their boot screen doesn't look at all consistent with the rest of the UI.

6. Deeper Integration with the Cloud

Ubuntu One perfectly syncs almost all of your necessary files. However, wouldn't it be great if it could also sync settings, wallpapers, and even common apps? The same would be a big boon for users who have more than one computer.

7. Better Social Integration

Ubuntu surely doesn't have much to boast about when it comes to social features. You would say, Gwibber is in the process of a revamp. This leaves users relying on external applications like Polly.

8. TRIM Support

TRIM support will significantly improve performance of computers especially for SSD users. After its recent inclusion and success in Android 4.3, we expect TRIM Support to be included in Ubuntu 14.04.
